The Taiwo Foundation is collaborating the the Black Business Expo USA to present the 2019 Black Business Expo USA College and Career Summit: Paving the Road for Success on Saturday, November 30 at the Durham City Center Marriott. With tracts for high schools students grades 9-12 and college students home for the holidays, the Summit's goal is to equip students with the tools they need to successfully prepare for college, excel while in college, and begin a career upon graduation from college.
The end of November is a pivotal time as it is the middle of SAT/ACT test dates and the beginning of college, scholarship, and FASFA application submissions for HS students and parents. For college students, this time initiates the opportunity planning for co-ops, summer internships, and full time employment for the upcoming year while they also prepare for (and stress over) final exams.
For the HS students, presenters will provide information on writing winning essays, turning SAT/ACT scores into scholarships, and completing the FAFSA financial aid form. For the college students, the presenters will provide tools on college readiness at all levels, maintaining your mental and emotional health, and leveraging LinkedIn to secure jobs.
For both groups, the Summit highlight will the journey sharing of business leaders on the To Be Young Gifted and a Black Entrepreneur panel. Now more than ever, our youth need to see, hear, and experience black professionals running businesses, creating jobs, and generating wealth through multiple income streams.MAKE A DONATION
